MPOS

The MPOS project aims to deepen the understanding and demonstrate the potential of magnetic sensor grid applications for position and orientation sensing. A particular focus is placed on compensating for stray fields and reducing the calibration effort in modern magnetic position and orientation systems….

MM-SENS & ACT

The project „MM – SENS & ACT“ developed an innovative MEMS micro-mirror based on magnetic and piezoelectric quasi-static actuators with an integrated magnetic sensor for closed-loop control. The micro-mirror combines large angular deflections and mirror sizes with low-voltage operation, compact design, and high-precision real-time position monitoring….

Speak-speak

The objective of the „Mag-Speak“ project was to develop, manufacture, and test a new generation of MEMS woofer micro-speakers based on magnetic drive principles. A proof-of-concept micro-speaker was sought, offering a significantly more compact design compared to current state-of-the-art systems, while simultaneously achieving sound pressure levels and total harmonic distortion values that meet market requirements for woofers.

Mag-MEMS

The „Mag-MEMS“ project aims to develop a miniaturized 3D tactile sensor as a proof-of-concept demonstrator that can detect shear and normal forces with high spatial resolution and a large dynamic range. This will be achieved by integrating tailored arrays of anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) sensors, which allow for tracking the three-dimensional motion of a permanent micro-magnet embedded in a flexible frame in the sub-millimeter range….

FAMES

The FAMES pilot line is a cooperative initiative under the European Chips Act to develop advanced 10 nm and 7 nm FD-SOI technologies for innovative semiconductor applications. It brings together European partners to foster a freely accessible manufacturing ecosystem. Within the project, SAL is developing self-biased magnetic circulators intended for integration into the 22 nm FDX FD-SOI technology provided by CEA-LETI….

Mag-TF

The Mag-TF initiative aims to establish a pilot facility for the development, manufacturing, and characterization of advanced magnetic thin films for spintronic and MEMS applications. This includes the acquisition of specialized equipment for thin film deposition as well as for wafer-level magnetic device characterization. The Mag-TF infrastructure will be integrated into the existing SAL microfabrication facility.

METAQUANT

The project focused on developing a new platform for generating a special type of light – so-called quantum light – using very thin structures, known as metasurfaces, which can produce entangled photon pairs with high efficiency….

Surf's Up

The „Surf's Up“ project is dedicated to the development of a new generation of high-frequency filters and resonators based on a new layer transfer technology and the production of epitaxial nitride layers using magnetron sputtering....

FIRESAT

The project „FIRESAT“ investigates the challenges and benefits of using artificial intelligence (AI) for on-board processing directly on Earth observation satellites. The ESA mission „OPSSAT,“ as well as OroraTech's dedicated CubeSAT platform, will be used for in-flight experiments to demonstrate the feasibility of the use case – satellite-based forest fire detection using on-board AI analysis of live RGB images....

ALL2GaN

The aim of this project is to strengthen the European power electronics industry by offering an EU-originating intelligent GaN integration toolbox as a basis for applications with significantly increased material and energy efficiency. This will help meet global energy demand while simultaneously minimizing the CO2 footprint.
