MUSIC

MUSIC aims at developing materials, process integration technology, and methodologies to utilize new materials like AlScN that can replace lead-based materials in piezoelectric devices.

Project goals

  • Development of the sputtering technology to deposit high quality AlSc30-36%N multilayers
  • Development of polymer transfer technology, to integrate piezoMEMS devices with polymers for performance
  • Development of testing and characterization methodologies
  • Design and characterization of MEMS microspeaker test vehicles to test the technology and assess the feasibility of the multilayer lead-free approach
  • Development of process industrialization methodologies, to scale up the processes towards mass manufacturing

The project integrates multiple partners, from material providers to semiconductor tool vendors, fabless design company, to mass manufacturing foundry and integrated device manufacturer.

NOVETROL

Within the NOVETROL project, a novel, fast, passive, and self-regulating current limiter for DC networks is being investigated. This device is based on the extraordinary magnetoresistance effect occurring in semiconductors with very high charge carrier mobility. The component functions similarly to a thermistor: instead of increasing its resistance with rising temperature, the resistance increases in response to the magnetic field generated by the fault current that the system is intended to limit….

FAMES

The FAMES pilot line is a cooperative initiative under the European Chips Act to develop advanced 10 nm and 7 nm FD-SOI technologies for innovative semiconductor applications. It brings together European partners to foster a freely accessible manufacturing ecosystem. Within the project, SAL is developing self-biased magnetic circulators intended for integration into the 22 nm FDX FD-SOI technology provided by CEA-LETI….

ARCHIMEDES

The ARCHIMEDES project aims to develop technologies that increase the lifespan of critical electronic systems from 8,000 to 120,000 hours, while simultaneously reducing the time required for design and qualification...
