ViTFOX

ViTFOX is an international collaboration between Europe and Korea that aims to advance next-generation semiconductor technology for artificial intelligence. The project focuses on developing “ferroelectric-augmented” chips capable of running Vision Transformers (ViTs) with exceptional energy efficiency—exceeding 50 trillion operations per second per watt (TOPS/W).

Project goals

The project’s goal is to build the fundamental blocks of an in-memory network accelerator by exploiting the energy efficiency of ferroelectric switching.

The project aims to contribute to the semiconductor value chain at three key levels:

  • Integration and Testing: Implementation of a neuromorphic engine at board level
  • Back-End Processing: Enabling BEOL functionalization through monolithic integration of complex oxides and heterogeneous integration of advanced functional materials
  • Materials level: Control of ferroelectric switching at the nanoscale to realize low-power, high-density memory devices

Genesis

The „GENESIS“ project researches the coupling mechanisms of electromagnetic interferences from automotive traction inverters. This forms the basis for a much stronger integration of simulation into the design of such inverters than has been the case to date....

REDSEL

The research focus of this project is on investigating novel concepts and architecture for safe, reliable, and efficient high-voltage/low-voltage onboard power network systems. The different concepts are evaluated for specific operating conditions, and the most suitable one is implemented in the form of a demonstrator.

FIRESAT

The project „FIRESAT“ investigates the challenges and benefits of using artificial intelligence (AI) for on-board processing directly on Earth observation satellites. The ESA mission „OPSSAT,“ as well as OroraTech's dedicated CubeSAT platform, will be used for in-flight experiments to demonstrate the feasibility of the use case – satellite-based forest fire detection using on-board AI analysis of live RGB images....
