Physiological sensors for e-heath applications and smart tracking of fitness and sport are facing an unprecedented growth in consumer and professional markets. Despite the already possible capabilities of recent approaches, several prospective revolutionary improvements are still open points in the domain of energy management, sensing new bio signals or reliable and efficient data analysis with AI algorithms and connectivity with the IoT. H2TRAIN aims at the development of novel materials for sensing, energy harvesting and supercapacitor storage together with embedded intelligence.

Project Goals

  • Develop, prototype, and test a novel biosensor based on graphene oxide functionalization for cortisol, lactate, C-reactive protein, and pH of electrolytes.

  • System-integration development, prototyping and testing of a broad spectrum of technology demonstrators based on advanced sensors such as tattoo sweat, glycemic, electrolytes-pH devices, and inertial measurement units (IMU), for activity tracking in sport and health.

  • Develop, prototype, and test a new technological solution that enhances performance and achieves ultra-highly efficient RF-power conversion and thermoelectric generator providing significant advances towards the integration of 2D-materials technology with novel photolithography process, and the emergence of competitive value chains in graphene and other emergent semiconductors in Europe.

  • Develop, prototype and test novel supercapacitors for energy storage devices which are integrated in textile clothes.

  • Develop, prototype, and test an ultra-low power embedded system for Artificial Intelligence of Things AIoT in use case for health & sport.

  • Develop, prototype, and test a system of systems for IoT in use cases, namely, Remote Assisted Living (RAL), Intelligent Adaptive Sport Coaching (IASC) and Remote Post Surgery & Rehab Monitoring (RPS&RM).
