Detection of biomarkers in liquid with broadband source (Dorian)

Partner Call open until: July 17, 2024

Project Start: Q3 2024

Objectives

Development of a spectroscopic system for the detection of biomarkers in a fluid using broadband illumination, focusing on determining both the origin and relative amount -quantification- of each of them.

Immunfluoreszenz einer einzelnen menschlichen Zelle, die in einer Gewebekultur gezüchtet, mit mehreren Antikörpern angefärbt und mittels konfokaler Mikroskopie sichtbar gemacht wurde

Within the project, current technologies will be analyzed and improved to achieve increased sensitivity through the optimization of sample handling, optical excitation and optical readout.

Detailed objectives include:

  • To identify and verify a spectroscopic concept for determining biomarker content in a liquid.
  • To develop novel light sources/detectors to enhance the response as compared to the state of the art.

To identify and verify novel alternative concepts based on emerging technologies to improve the performance of the device.

Expected results

The technologies established within this project will pave the way for early detection and quantification of specific biomarkers in fluids with enhanced sensitivity and accuracy as compared to state of the art.
