MPBATTT

The aim of this project is the development of a power dense multiport battery tester.

The input voltage of the tester is an 800V DC grid and offers a variable output voltage ranging from 0 to 10 V. This tester provides insights into cell health, charging capabilities and battery reliability of battery cells through high accuracy voltage and current measurements and impedance measurements. EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) functionality allows a more precise non-invasive monitoring of the cell health over the charging cycles. With the impedance over the frequency also the identification of various internal processes such as charge transfer resistance, diffusion limitations, and capacitive behavior are possible.

This project investigates the following points:

  • Multiport resonant DC/DC converters
  • Multiphase coupled inductor Buck converters
  • CM noise reduction, especially in the transformer design
  • Planar transformer design
  • Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
