About SAL

Millimeter Wave Technologies

Research Focus Areas

  • Massive MIMO 5G Transceiver Front-Ends (Sub-6 GHz and mmWave)
  • Design of mmWave and sub-THz RF integrated circuits (power amplifiers, PLLs, phase shifters, LNAs, mixers) using advanced silicon technologies
  • Design of RF Circuits with (Ultra-)Low Power Consumption and Wireless Power Transfer (WPT)
  • Signal processing for radar sensors, including machine learning and sensor fusion
  • Interference Reduction and Coexistence of Heterogeneous Wireless Systems
  • Agile Analog/RF IC Design
  • RF ICs for Secure Wireless Networks
  • System Architecture and Analysis of Phased-Array/MIMO RF Front-Ends

Research Expertise

  • Design of integrated circuits for RF, millimeter-wave, and sub-THz applications using state-of-the-art CMOS (bulk, FinFET, SOI) and bipolar technologies
  • Knowledge of wireless protocols and standards (RFID, 802.15.3, LTE (including NB-IoT), 5G, …) for the design of transceivers and the development of communication test environments
  • RF and Millimeter-Wave PCB Design
  • A complete set of CAD tools for integrated circuits is available to support system, circuit, and component modeling, as well as the design of SoC ASICs
