Infineon Strengthens Trusted Connectivity with New UWB Lab

Munich, Germany and Graz, Austria – October 30, 2025 – Infi­neon Tech­nolo­gies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has estab­lished a dedi­cated Ultra-Wide­band (UWB) Appli­ca­tion Lab in Graz, Austria. Devel­oped in collab­o­ra­tion with Silicon Austria Labs (SAL), the lab focuses on advancing UWB tech­nology, exploring inno­v­a­tive use cases, and deliv­ering real-world appli­ca­tions for auto­mo­tive, indus­trial, IoT, and consumer markets. Ultra-Wide­band (UWB) is a cutting-edge wire­less commu­ni­ca­tion tech­nology enabling precise and secured local­iza­tion but also allows data exchange and sensing.

The UWB lab, together with Infi­neon’s well-founded connec­tivity port­folio, will further accel­erate inno­va­tion-to-customer value. By inte­grating cutting-edge re­search with prac­tical testing, the lab serves as a hub for collab­o­ra­tion with inter­na­tional customers, re­search insti­tu­tions, and tech­nology part­ners. Further­more, Infi­neon’s commit­ment to UWB as a trans­for­ma­tive tech­nology follows the acqui­si­tion of 3db Access AG, an Ultra-Wide­band pioneer, in 2023 and the announce­ment in May 2025 of joining the board of direc­tors of the FiRa® Consor­tium, the leading global orga­ni­za­tion shaping the future of UWB.

Enabling precise and secured local­iza­tion, as well as data trans­mis­sion and sensing, Ultra-Wide­band (UWB) is a cutting-edge wire­less commu­ni­ca­tion tech­nology. While tech­nolo­gies like Blue­tooth and Wi-Fi have their own strengths, UWB stands out by offering enhanced secu­rity features and centimeter-level accu­racy, making it partic­u­larly suit­able for appli­ca­tions in Industry 4.0, autonomous vehi­cles, health­care, and more. The UWB appli­ca­tion Lab in Graz is Infi­neon’s first facility fully tailored to UWB tech­nology. Designed to enable flex­ible testing, the lab supports solu­tions ranging from small IoT devices to full vehicle systems. With cutting-edge equip­ment such as motion-capture systems, autonomous robots, and wire­less control tech­nolo­gies, the lab ensures precise and repro­ducible testing envi­ron­ments.

Addi­tion­ally, Infi­neon is involved in asso­ci­ated stan­dard­iza­tion bodies like IEEE or CCC as well as the Connec­tivity Stan­dards Alliance (CSA) to simplify and harmo­nize global tech­no­log­ical stan­dards.
