EIS-Plattform für Echtzeitüberwachung und Diagnose von Hochvoltbatteriesystemen

Develop an EIS system combining hardware and signal analysis for real-time diagnostics of multi-cell high-voltage battery systems.

Objectives

The goal of this project is to develop a flexible Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) platform that combines custom hardware and advanced signal analysis for battery monitoring and diagnostics across different system levels, from single cells to high voltage battery packs, during operation.

Current EIS solutions are typically limited to laboratory environments or single cell measurements. This project aims to overcome these limitations by developing a custom system capable of performing impedance measurements at battery pack level under operating conditions for monitoring degradation and remaining useful lifetime prediction.

Expected Results

  • Prototype of an EIS platform for battery packs with integration into battery management systems (BMS)
  • Demonstration of impedance measurements during real operation.
  • New methods for battery health estimation and fault detection based on EIS.

We are looking for partners from

  • Industry (battery manufacturers, repair industry, automotive, energy storage)
  • BMS and system integration
  • Electronics and hardware development

SAL Cooperative Model

Our unique SAL cooperative model is characterized by the rapid implementation of innovative ideas. With this model, we enable our customers to implement their research ideas not only quickly and unbureaucratically, but we also co-finance 50 % of the project costs. The costs are not dependent on the sector; however, they vary depending on the number of project partners.

Your Benefits at a Glance

  • SAL co-finances 50 % of the project costs
  • The industry partner contributes 25 % in cash and 25 % in in-kind* services
  • Projects can be carried out bi- and multilaterally
  • In multilateral projects, costs are distributed between the project partners
  • Quick and unbureaucratic implementation without application for grants
  • Not dependent on the sector
  • Application- and industry-oriented research (TRL* 3 - 6)
  • IP rules in accordance with the European state aid law

In-Kind: machine costs, staff hours etc.
*TRL: Technology Readiness Level
