CPO – Electronic Engine

The project focuses on developing integrated circuits for two key areas in CPO: scalable integrated electronics to control large MEMS mirrors for optical switches and an electronic engine for the photonic RF transceiver.

Ziel­set­zung

The main objective for the optical switch topic is to develop a scalable all digital MEMS mirror to enable solid-state optical switches for reduced SWaP. Regarding the electronic engine for CPO, the objective is to develop the key electronic blocks targeting to prove a 112Gbps data rate.

Main challenges:

  • Integrate all control electronics and digital interface with the objective of improving the pitch of the arrayable all-digital MEMS mirror.
  • Develop key electronic building blocks such as laser driver, slicer, CTLE, TIA for 112Gbps

Erwartete Ergebnisse 

  • Schematic design, layout, post-layout verification, tape out and characterization of the scalable all-digital MEMS mirror
  • Schematic design, layout, post-layout verification, tape out and characterization of individual building blocks of an XSR SerDes.
  • Characterization of the 112Gbps photonic RF transceiver (to be aligned with partners)

 

Who we are looking for

  • Foundries with capabilities for monolithic integration of MEMS mirrors and integrated control electronics
  • Partners with expertise in AMS IC design for co-designing the control electronics of the all-digital MEMS mirror
  • Partners with expertise in optical switch system integration.
  • Partners with expertise in AMS RF-IC design for CPO electronic engine building blocks like CDR, PLL, LVDS and system level design
