The project aims to investigate a novel tool for the measurement of electrostatic field at ion-thruster electrodes. In more detail we aim for researching a fully digital, multichannel, electrostatic voltmeter for quantifying contactless the electric potential.

Our goal is to surpass the shortcomings of currently available electrostatic voltmeters by realizing a modern meter design that fulfils specific user requirements for applications in satellite ion thruster management. Enhanced data storage capability, data analytics as well as state-of-the-art communication interfaces (Ethernet, USB) and protocols (e.g. SCPI, remote/web GUI), will be ensured thereby.
- A fully digital voltmeter technology, which enables parallel data acquisition from minimum eight channels.
- Poka-yoke based digital and mechanical realisation for fail-safe operation.
