Across the EU, there are only nine of these DETs \u2013 and Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is taking on a key role by leading one of them under the EU Chips Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2025, Chips Joint Under\u00adtaking launched a call for Design Enable\u00adment Teams to support the design plat\u00adform of the \u201cChips for Europe\u201d initia\u00adtive (Pillar 1 of the EU Chips Act). This plat\u00adform strengthens Europe\u2019s semi\u00adcon\u00adductor design capa\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties and fosters a robust ecosystem for start-ups and SMEs. It consists of two units: the Plat\u00adform Coor\u00addi\u00adna\u00adtion Team (PCT), which manages the central cloud infra\u00adstruc\u00adture, and the Design Enable\u00adment Teams (DETs), which operate decen\u00adtral\u00adized cloud instances and guide users from design setup to chip tape-out.<\/p>\n<h2>Austria Posi\u00adtions Itself as a Key Player for Europe\u2019s Chip Future<\/h2>\n<p>Under the name CHIP\u00adSIDEA, Silicon Austria Labs leads one of these nine DETs, posi\u00adtioning Austria as a key player in the future of micro\u00adelec\u00adtronics. Together with Pari\u00adtyQC, SAL repre\u00adsents Austria in this strategic program, combining cutting-edge re\u00adsearch with indus\u00adtrial exper\u00adtise.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe semi\u00adcon\u00adductor industry is THE strategic industry of the 21st century, essen\u00adtial for economic devel\u00adop\u00adment in the coming decades.
