In this high-tech labo\u00adra\u00adtory, sensors and elec\u00adtronic systems are tested under real\u00adistic and extreme envi\u00adron\u00admental condi\u00adtions. The goal is to improve the reli\u00ada\u00adbility and service life of modern elec\u00adtronics and to bring inno\u00adva\u00adtions into appli\u00adca\u00adtion more quickly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the opening of the new Vali\u00adda\u00adtion Lab, SAL has achieved another mile\u00adstone for Austria as a re\u00adsearch and tech\u00adnology loca\u00adtion. In the lab, elec\u00adtronic compo\u00adnents are delib\u00ader\u00adately exposed to extreme condi\u00adtions \u2014 ranging from severe temper\u00ada\u00adture fluc\u00adtu\u00ada\u00adtions and high humidity to mechan\u00adical stress and vibra\u00adtions. This allows devel\u00adopers to verify, already during the devel\u00adop\u00adment phase, whether sensors and elec\u00adtronic systems func\u00adtion reli\u00adably under real oper\u00adating condi\u00adtions.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cInno\u00adva\u00adtions in micro\u00adelec\u00adtronics are a key driver of our coun\u00adtry's compet\u00adi\u00adtive\u00adness. It is no coin\u00adci\u00addence that we have iden\u00adti\u00adfied elec\u00adtronic compo\u00adnents and systems as one of nine key tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies and areas of strength in our indus\u00adtrial strategy. With the Vali\u00adda\u00adtion Lab, Austria is estab\u00adlishing a vital infra\u00adstruc\u00adture to bring new tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies to market more quickly while ensuring their quality and dura\u00adbility,\u201d<\/em>stresses <strong>Innovation Minister Peter Hanke.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Test Environment for Research and Industry<\/h2>\n<p>The Vali\u00adda\u00adtion Lab enables compre\u00adhen\u00adsive testing under controlled condi\u00adtions \u2014 such as in climate cham\u00adbers or through vibra\u00adtion and shock tests. For example, temper\u00ada\u00adtures ranging from minus 70 to plus 180 degrees Celsius can be simu\u00adlated, and their effects on elec\u00adtronic systems during oper\u00ada\u00adtion can be analyzed.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWith the Vali\u00adda\u00adtion Lab, we are expanding our re\u00adsearch infra\u00adstruc\u00adture with a specific focus on appli\u00adca\u00adtion. We are bridging the gap between scien\u00adtific devel\u00adop\u00adment and indus\u00adtrial imple\u00admen\u00adta\u00adtion, thereby strength\u00adening our role as an inno\u00adva\u00adtion partner for the busi\u00adness commu\u00adnity,\u201d<\/em>, erkl\u00e4rt <strong>Chris\u00adtina Hirschl, Gesch\u00e4fts\u00adf\u00fch\u00adrerin SAL.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Reliability and longevity as keys to sustainable technologies<\/h2>\n<p>In addi\u00adtion to SAL\u2019s own re\u00adsearch activ\u00adi\u00adties, the labo\u00adra\u00adtory will also be avail\u00adable to part\u00adners from industry and acad\u00ademia, allowing them to test their prod\u00aducts under real\u00adistic condi\u00adtions. The focus is on durable and sustain\u00adable elec\u00adtronics solu\u00adtions that must func\u00adtion reli\u00adably even under extreme condi\u00adtions \u2014 such as in the auto\u00admo\u00adtive industry, energy tech\u00adnology, or aero\u00adspace.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn our Vali\u00adda\u00adtion Lab, we specif\u00adi\u00adcally simu\u00adlate the stresses that elec\u00adtronics are exposed to in real-world appli\u00adca\u00adtions \u2014 from extreme temper\u00ada\u00adtures to severe vibra\u00adtions.
