mm wave Lab for radar and communication

Start: Q4 2018

Objective

The objective of this project is to set up an mm wave laboratory for radar and communication in conjunction with the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) and industry. The lab will be involved in both mm wave system modeling and offer the test infrastructure for hardware in the loop (HIL) and over-the-air (OTA) tests, for example for coexistence and interoperability. Furthermore, the mm wave Lab will carry out research in the fields of massive MIMO, small cells, mm wave front-end modules and multi-antenna arrays and beamforming structures. The laboratory is also aiming to participate in European research initiatives towards 6G.

Expected results

The mm wave lab will, in the field of RF physical layer, prepare the way for future generations in the mm wave range (>6 GHz, 77 GHz, 122 GHz, and >200 GHz) for communication and radar.
