RF systems for IOT and mm wave sensing and communication

In this program, the focus is on the physical layer of high-frequency systems for IOT, mm wave communication and mm wave imaging, sensing and radar. Advanced HF concepts such as 5G NR, massive MIMO and small cells will also be examined, as will integration concepts of different radio standards in individual form factors. RF coexistence, interoperability and interference suppression concepts are key research areas here, whereby the attendant research of the above programs is raised to system level.

In addition to the research of RF system concepts, this program’s vision is, in conjunction with the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, to set up a first-class mm wave laboratory that paves the way for the convergence of radar and communication in the high GHz to THz frequency range of the next generation.
